Our vineyards

Ecological grapes under the auspices of the Dinara

The passion for the country from which our founder Nikola Damjanić came, bound his restless spirit inextricably to this region. There, on this sunny plateau above the village of Vrbnik, with the help of friends and excellent winemakers from Goriška brda, we planted 30,000 vines. Thus began the story of our Burnum wines.

The old warriors knew where to drink the best wine

Our vineyards cover about 6 ha of the entire property of PZ “Vrbničko selo”. They belong to the Knin vineyards as they are located only 7 km from the royal town of Knin.

In this area, the land is rocky, harsh and crumbly, but that is why the sun caresses our vineyards abundantly. Its strips sparkle in the golden and ruby drops of our wines.

Burnum is the name for the Roman military camp that the ancient Romans established here at the beginning of our era. It numbered about 25,000 soldiers who used to roam our vineyards, fight wars and fortify themselves with wine. The old warriors knew where to drink the best wine.

The remains of “burnum” have been preserved to this day in the form of two bows, just like you will find on our wine label.

A happy home for many domestic and world grape varieties

In the deep Dalmatian hinterland, the world-famous grape varieties dawn, which in combination with local varieties create an exceptional harmony of colors, tastes and aromas.

All grapes in our vineyards grow in ecological conditions and all our wines carry the EU eco certificate.

Red & white cuvéei

Of the white varieties in our vineyard you will find indigenous pošip and maraština as well as chardonnay and voignier which together are part of our White cuvée.

From the black varieties we grow domestic babić and plavac mali, but also world vines such as merlot, cabernet sauvingon, cabernet franc and carmenère. In carefully selected proportions, which are taken care of by our oenologist Miodrag Huškar, they give a unique stamp to our Black Cuvé.

Did you know that we were among the first in Croatia, using the traditional method of boiling in a bottle, to make dry rosé sparkling wine from the babić variety. Gentle as morning dew, juicy as peach and liquid as a kiss. There is always more to ask for a bottle for him.
